Tour from San Pedro Atacama – Uyuni salt flat – ending in San Pedro (with return)

1st DAY

We start our journey from San Pedro de Atacama at 06:00 am. in a minibus to the Bolivia border, passing through the immigration controls of Chile and Bolivia. Once the immigration procedures are completed at the Bolivian border at an altitude of 4,400 meters, we switch to a 4WD Toyota LAND CRUISER jeep with capacity for 6 passengers.

On this first day, we will visit the Bolivian highlands with places like Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano. We will also explore the Daly Desert where we will admire a surreal landscape, thermal water pools, the geysers of Sol de Mañana with intermittent water sources at a temperature of 90°C, fumaroles, and cracks where volcanic lava flows. We will end the day at Laguna Colorada, the main nesting site for over 30,000 flamingos of three different species. These places are at an average altitude of 4,300 meters above sea level, where you can see Andean flora and fauna such as flamingos, vicuñas, and other animals.

For the first night, we will stay at HUAYLLA JARA or VILLA MAR hostel in private rooms with a private bathroom (double, twin, or triple).

2nd. DAY

We will depart from the first accommodation at 08:00 am to visit the Valley of Rocks (Ciudad de Italia) with rock formations carved by wind erosion, Laguna Vinto, Canyon La Cascada, SORA (Andean fauna llamas or vicuñas). We will then continue through the Andean villages of San Agustin and Julaca, until we reach the town of Colcha K. The second night will be spent at HOTEL DE SAL ANDINA MAYPO in private rooms (double, triple, and matrimonial).

3rd. DAY

On this third day, we will have a general visit to the Uyuni Salt Flats (12,000 km2). Depending on the weather conditions, we may start with a sunrise at the salt flats and enjoy the reflection of the water on the salt flats (January and February). We will visit Inca Huasi Island (Park of Giant Cacti) located in the center of the salt flats with formations of calcareous rocks with remains of corals and seashells, the eyes of the salt flats, salt mines, the town of Colchani, and the train cemetery (steam locomotives from the coal era). We will arrive in Uyuni around 3:00 pm. After a short rest, at 4:00 pm we will start the return journey for about 3 hours to the town of MALLKU VILLA MAR where we will spend the night at the hostel of the same name in private rooms (double, triple, and matrimonial).

4th DAY

We will depart from the town of Villa Mar at 05:00 am for a direct 4-hour journey to the Chilean border at HITO CAJON, arriving around 9:00 am. Here, we will go through the migration controls and switch back to a minibus for the return to San Pedro de Atacama, arriving at around 13:00 pm.
